Dr. Amitabh Kumar Singh

Dr. Amitabh Singh is an Ophthalmologist practising at Gitanjali Nursing Home, Dehri-on-Sone, Rohtas District, Bihar.

Born into an exceptionally distinguished and educated family deeply rooted in public service, his family lineage has been associated with public life for generations, with distinguished freedom fighters, politicians, lawyers and eminent members of the judiciary among his forebears.

Amitabh Singh hails from Aurangabad district, Bihar, with his parents having settled in Dehri-on-Sone. He is the younger son of the late Dr. Awadh Bihari Sinha and Dr. Geeta Sinha, both renowned medical practitioners of their era who established a legacy of compassionate healthcare in the region.

His maternal lineage includes some of India’s most notable legal luminaries, most prominently his great-grandfather, the late Justice Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Sinha, who served as the 6th Chief Justice of India from 1959 to 1964. The family tradition of excellence in public service extends further, with several ancestors having served as judges in various High Courts and the Supreme Court of India.

Following in his parents’ footsteps, Dr. Amitabh Singh has been engaged in active private medical practice since 2005. After his father’s demise and honouring his mother’s advanced age, he assumed the responsibility of running the Geetanjali Nursing Home—the institution established by his parents on New G.T. Road, Dehri-on-Sone—thereby continuing their mission of community care and accessible healthcare.

He is married to Dr. Kanchan Singh, a practicing specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and together they represent a multi-generational commitment to medicine and public service in southern Bihar.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Amitabh Singh has actively organized and participated in numerous eye health camps through the Lions Club, extending preventive and curative eye care to underserved populations. His humanitarian efforts remain dedicated to supporting the downtrodden and underprivileged, upholding his family’s enduring legacy of service to society.
