About & Biography

A Life Dedicated to Medicine, Compassion, and Community Service

Behind every great achievement lies a story of determination, perseverance, service, and purpose. Dr. Lalit Mohan Singh's life is a remarkable journey shaped by ambition, challenges, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to serving society.

Born in village Tenduni, Bikramganj, in Rohtas district of Bihar, Dr. Singh is the son of the late Nageshwar Singh and the late Raj Muni Devi. His father, the late Nageshwar Singh, worked for the Indian Railways and retired from service. He was kind, honest, truthful, and always willing to help others. His generosity and helpful nature were well known not only in Gaya but also in his native village. Dr. Singh's mother, late Raj Muni Devi, was also a compassionate and helpful woman who was particularly known for supporting and helping women in need in her community.

Dr. Singh completed his higher secondary education at Bikramganj. Driven by a strong desire to pursue a career in medicine, he moved to Gaya for higher education. He completed his B.Sc. Part I from A. M. College, Gaya, and subsequently pursued his MBBS at Magadh Medical College and Hospital, Gaya, now known as Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH), Gayaji.

In 1975, Dr. Singh married Mrs. Rama Singh, beginning a partnership built on love, mutual support, and shared values. Together, they raised a close-knit family of four children, all of whom have grown into successful and well-settled individuals. His family has remained a constant source of strength and inspiration throughout his life.

A Distinguished Career in the Indian Railways

Dr. Lalit Mohan Singh began his professional career as a Doctor with the Indian Railways in November 1979. His first major posting was at Gaya Railway Hospital, where he served for approximately six years. He was subsequently transferred to Dhanbad, where he served for about a year before being posted to Barwadih, Jharkhand, in Dhanbad Division, Eastern Railway, now known as East Central Railway.

At that time, Barwadih was a highly challenging region. Serving as a doctor there demanded not only medical expertise but also courage, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility. Dr. Singh frequently provided medical assistance at any hour of the day or night, sometimes in difficult and remote locations. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to the health and well-being of railway employees and the local community.

His years in Barwadih became one of the defining chapters of his career. His dedication, accessibility, and compassionate approach to patient care earned him immense respect from colleagues and the local population. His outstanding service earned him the DRM Award, Dhanbad Division, and the GM Award, Eastern Railway.

Dr. Singh was later transferred to Mughalsarai, now known as Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, where he served for approximately five years. He subsequently returned to Gaya, where he assumed the responsibility of Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS). He continued to serve with distinction until he retired from the Indian Railways in November 2011.

Service Beyond Retirement

For Dr. Singh, retirement was not the end of his journey in medicine but the beginning of a new chapter in community service. A lifetime member of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Dr. Singh continued to dedicate his knowledge, experience, and time to society's welfare.

He became actively involved with the Indian Red Cross Society, Gaya District, and participated in and organised medical camps for poor, underprivileged, and needy families. His commitment to organised medical service led him to serve as President of the Indian Medical Association, Gaya District, for two consecutive terms. Along with his dedicated team, he organised healthcare camps in rural and underserved areas, bringing medical consultation and treatment to communities with limited access to healthcare.

He later moved to Patna, where he became Vice President of the IMA Bihar State Branch. For nearly 10–11 years, he remained actively engaged as Vice President of the IMA Bihar State Branch in professional and community welfare activities. Under his leadership, and with the support of his team, he organised numerous blood donation camps, immunisation drives, health check-up camps, and medical outreach programmes in villages, remote areas, and among communities in need.

He also serves as a Director of Rama InfraTel Pvt. Ltd., contributing to the company's strategic direction and overall growth. His philosophy has always been simple yet profound: medicine is not merely a profession; it is a responsibility toward humanity.

His years of dedicated service, leadership, and contribution to the medical profession were recognised when he was elected President of the IMA Bihar State Branch in February 2026.

A Legacy of Compassion and Service

Throughout his life, Dr. Lalit Mohan Singh has remained guided by three enduring principles: medicine, compassion, and service to society. Whether serving patients in a challenging railway hospital, working in a difficult region, leading medical initiatives, organising blood donation drives, or bringing healthcare to rural communities, he has consistently placed others' needs at the heart of his work.

Dr. Singh is deeply proud and honoured to be associated with the Babu Kuwar Singh Education Fund as a Donor and Executive Member, an organisation whose vision of serving society through education and social welfare resonates strongly with his own lifelong values.
