Dr. Sushil Kumar Singh

Dr. Sushil Kumar Singh was born in Basudewa, Singhia, Samastipur, Bihar. Also referred to as the "Messiah of Poor" or "Dhanvantri", he is an alumnus of Darbhanga Medical College Hospital, 1974 batch, and has more than five decades of experience in the medical profession and social work.

After completing his medical degree, Dr. Sushil moved to Bombay in pursuit of higher learning and professional experience. He worked with reputed institutions including Bombay Hospital and Jaslok Hospital. During his time at Jaslok Hospital, he became part of the nephrology team headed by Dr. M. K. Mani, widely recognised as a pioneer of nephrology in India.

During his time at Jaslok Hospital, Dr. Sushil met Loknayak Jai Prakash Narain, who was undergoing treatment there. Their interaction had a lasting influence on Dr. Sushil, encouraging him to return to Bihar and dedicate himself to serving people who were less privileged. He returned to Bihar in 1980 and began his work in Khagaul, Patna.

For many years, Dr. Sushil provided medical services at highly affordable fees. He has continued to make healthcare accessible to people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and has maintained a practice centred on personal attention, compassion, and service. He has also remained available to patients on an extensive basis, including during emergencies and outside regular clinical hours.

Dr. Sushil continuously updates his medical knowledge and skills to provide better treatment to patients who travel from different parts of Bihar and neighbouring states such as Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. His approach includes keeping abreast of medical research and adopting a multidisciplinary perspective while remaining conscious of affordability.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Sushil has been actively involved in social service and charitable initiatives. He is associated with the Rotary Club and has conducted medical camps where patients receive treatment free of charge. He has also held positions of responsibility in organisations and associations working for social, educational, and community welfare.

His professional journey is marked by dedication, integrity, perseverance, and a strong commitment to putting service before self. His wife, Mrs. Saroj Singh, has been an important source of strength and support throughout his journey. Dr. Sushil continues to balance his professional responsibilities with his family and community commitments.
