Prof. Dr. Arun Kumar Singh

Dr. Arun Kumar Singh is Professor in the Department of Psychology at A.N. College, Patna, and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Patliputra University, Patna. With 41 years of teaching experience, including more than 25 years as a Professor of Psychology, he has built an extensive academic career encompassing teaching, research, administration, scholarly publishing and the promotion of social ethics.

He has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Patliputra University, and as Principal In-charge of A.N. College, Patna. He has also served as Head of the P.G. Department of Psychology at Patliputra University and Head of the Department of Psychology at A.N. College. He has held several academic and administrative responsibilities, including membership of the Syndicate of Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya from 2016 to 2018, the Grievance Cell, Academic Council and Senate of Patliputra University, and various statutory committees of Magadh University and Patliputra University.

At A.N. College, he has served as Professor In-Charge of the Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLIS) and Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) programmes and has contributed to various college-level organizing committees. He has also served as a member of the Board of Studies in Social Psychology at Aryabhata Knowledge University, Patna, and as Secretary of the Ad hoc Committee (Affiliated Colleges), Patliputra University.

He has contributed as an expert member on screening committees for the promotion of Associate Professors and Professors at V.K.S. University, J.P. University, Patna University and Patliputra University. He has also served as a subject expert for the recruitment of guest faculty in Psychology at various universities in Bihar.

Dr. Singh has participated in numerous seminars, symposia, conferences, workshops, faculty development programmes, Orientation Courses and Refresher Courses. He has served on the editorial boards of journals, magazines and books and has published extensively in peer-reviewed national and international journals. In 2025, he published the book "भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरा – एक परिचय".

He has supervised seven Ph.D. scholars, with two additional theses under review. He is also actively involved in career guidance and counselling through print and electronic media. He has been recognised as a panelist for the National Translation Mission of the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Government of India, Mysore, and has contributed as an expert member in the translation of the Constitution of India into the Maithili language.

Beyond academics, Dr. Singh has been engaged in NGO activities, social work and NSS programmes at the college level. He is also a lifetime member of the Indian Science Congress. His career reflects a sustained commitment to teaching, research, academic administration, student guidance and social service.
