Sri Sanjay Kumar

Mr. Sanjay Kumar is a distinguished entrepreneur and business leader whose journey reflects vision, strategic foresight, disciplined execution and an enduring commitment to building enterprises. Over nearly four decades, he has established and expanded businesses across diverse sectors, including automobiles, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, cold storage and allied industries.

A postgraduate in Mathematics, Mr. Kumar was born and brought up in Patna, Bihar, with ancestral roots in Saran district. He belongs to a family with a longstanding legacy in education, entrepreneurship, leadership and social service. He is the grandson of Late Shri Bindeshwar Prasad Singh, in whose honour a Postgraduate College was established in 1957 at Danapur, Patna. His father, Late Shri Ram Narayan Singh, was a respected leader who served as President of the All Bengal Brick Field Owners Association and as Secretary of B.S. College, Danapur. Mr. Kumar is also the son-in-law of Prof. (Dr.) Ramswarup Singh, former member of the Bihar Public Service Commission and a respected educationist in Bihar.

Inspired by this family legacy while determined to build an identity of his own, Mr. Kumar joined the family brick kiln business in 1987. This marked the beginning of an entrepreneurial journey characterised by diversification, calculated decision-making and sustained growth.

In 1996, he entered the cold storage sector and expanded the facility's capacity from 1,200 MT to 7,500 MT, establishing one of the largest cold storage facilities in Bihar. In 2004, he entered the automobile and agricultural equipment sector through a TAFE tractor dealership. Under his leadership, the dealership's market share grew from approximately 2% to 18%, and the organisation received significant recognition, including being ranked the No. 1 Key Parts Dealer of TAFE in India.

His expansion continued in 2010 with the Bajaj three-wheeler dealership business. Beginning with sales of approximately 30 vehicles per month, the operation grew to more than 900 units per month. This growth reflected his understanding of market opportunities, ability to build strong teams and focus on operational excellence.

In 2014, Mr. Kumar established Sara Automobile, representing Volvo Eicher Equipment, marking his entry into the commercial and construction equipment sector. In 2017, he established Ananya Auto Agency Pvt. Ltd., an authorised dealership of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. Under his leadership, the dealership grew from an initial sales volume of approximately 30 vehicles to nearly 500 vehicles.

Continuing to diversify, Mr. Kumar entered Escorts Construction Equipment and Bajaj Two-Wheelers in 2022. His automotive portfolio subsequently expanded further with Chetak, KTM and Triumph. In 2026, he further expanded into the agricultural equipment sector by establishing a John Deere Tractors dealership. His understanding of rural markets and decades of experience in the automotive and agricultural equipment sectors continue to guide his business vision.

A defining characteristic of Mr. Kumar's leadership is his focus on growth and measurable performance. He believes that the strength of an organisation lies in the trust it earns from its customers, employees, partners and the wider community. Beyond business, Mr. Kumar remains committed to social responsibility. Coming from a family with a strong tradition of contributing to education and social welfare, he believes that the purpose of enterprise extends beyond commercial success. Mr. Kumar is supported by his wife, Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Kumari, Professor of Philosophy at Gardanibagh Government Women's College, Patna, under Patliputra University. Together, they have raised two daughters with strong values of education, confidence and independence. His elder daughter serves as a Director at Ananya Auto Agency Pvt. Ltd. and works closely with him in managing and growing the organisation, while his younger daughter is pursuing higher education in Law at the University of Cambridge.

Apart from his professional responsibilities, Mr. Kumar has maintained a lifelong interest in sports. Having played cricket during his younger years, he continues to be passionate about sports and is now an avid golfer. The values of discipline, perseverance, resilience and healthy competition associated with sport are also reflected in his approach to business and leadership.
